Must Try Japanese Traditional Wear

If you’re one of those people who has a deep interest for Japan and Japanese culture and you’re planning to visit Japan in the near future. Do not miss this opportunity to rent a Japanese Traditional Wear and immerse further in the culture. Here are two famous Japanese wear that is a must try if you’re visiting Japan.

Kimono

The most iconic of all traditional Japanese wear, the kimono (着物) is a staple piece for many Japanese people. Drawing influence from ancient Chinese style clothing, the kimono was worn initially with a hakama, a long skirt type piece that sometimes featured a divider down the middle. Over time, however, tastes changed and it became far more popular for the kimono to be worn without the skirt and instead held together with a sash known as an obi.

Yukata

Yukata (浴衣) is the lighter, summery version of the kimono. Yukata was originally created as a bathing cloth for onsen. Made from soft, lightweight fabric like cotton worn by men and women. The yukata is fastened by a sash (obi). It is most popularly worn while onsen bathing, and this stylish and breezy robe is also the unofficial garb for vibrant summer matsuri events during the sweltering summer months.
